Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

demonstrates completion of operating light vehicle that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

organising work activities to comply with site standards

identifying, selecting and load equipment and/or attachments

accurately and clearly reports environmental issues

pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown of light vehicle

operating light vehicle, equipment and attachments

correctly use vehicle lights and indicators

carry out inspections and identify faults

process written records and reports


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when operating a light vehicle:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures

driving hazards and related defensive driving techniques

equipment and trailer characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

fatigue management techniques

light vehicle maintenance requirements/procedures

light vehicle refuelling procedures

loading/offloading procedures

map reading and road navigation techniques

methods of securing loads
